ACT's Core Claim in One Statement

Quantum systems exist as extended waves — real physical fields — until environmental coupling through the Higgs-mediated mechanism drives a phase transition to localized particles. This is not interpretation. It is the physics that QFT already contained.

Three Tiers of Evidence

Tier 1: Validated — CONFIRMED

ACT explains all existing decoherence phenomena: mass dependence, temperature scaling, environmental density effects, observable-specific rates, persistence at zero temperature.

Tier 2: Suggestive — ANOMALOUS

Excess decoherence rates in large-molecule interferometry (Schlosshauer 2019) exceed environmental-only models by factors consistent with ACT's mass-squared intrinsic contribution.

Tier 3: Decisive — PREDICTED

The isotope mass dependence test: Γ(¹³C)/Γ(¹²C) = (13.003/12.000)² = 1.174. Standard QM predicts 0%. CSL predicts ~8%. ACT predicts 17.4%.

Following Einstein's Pattern

Three times, mathematical results elevated to ontological reality.

1900–1905

E = hν → Light is quantized

Planck's formula was a 'calculation trick.' Einstein took it as ontological: light really comes in discrete packets. Result: quantum mechanics.

F(pollen) → Atoms are real

Brownian motion seemed random. Einstein showed it arises from lawful molecular collisions. Macroscopic randomness from microscopic law.

Proper time zero for massless particles was a kinematic curiosity. ACT takes it as ontological: unanchored fields exist outside time.

Why This Matters

For Physics

If confirmed, ACT resolves the longest-standing open problem in physics — the measurement problem — using existing Standard Model resources. No new particles. No exotic physics. Just QFT taken seriously.

For Technology

Understanding the anchoring mechanism enables better decoherence mitigation in quantum computers, novel quantum sensors, and engineered environments for quantum technology.
