Abstract (current summary)
This note audited the assumptions of ACT's optional universal mass channel and asked whether any laboratory-detectable version survives. Current status: the natural mass channel is excluded. Three attacks on the no-go fail (information–disturbance, equivalence-principle gauge, DC-white force noise), hardening it for any relativistic channel; one attack partially succeeds (a non-relativistic laboratory-comoving medium), but the 170 kDa sodium-nanoparticle interference result (Pedalino et al., Nature 649, 866 (2026)) closes the heavy-molecule discovery window it opened. What remains is a sub-half-nanometre microscopic corner (theoretically expensive: a preferred frame, an unexplained drag, a tuned correlation length) and a likelihood-level reanalysis of existing interferometry data. The optional channel is not part of ACT's core event ontology, which shares the standard ensemble predictions regardless.
Historical derivation archived
The full assumption audit and the surviving-corner calculation — the three failed attacks, the non-relativistic-medium transfer law \(\Gamma\propto M^2/v\), and the original window numbers — are retained for the record in the project archive, superseded by the constraint story now summarized in the site's Experimental Evidence view and Mathematical Supplement (§Constraints). They are kept out of this active page because their discovery-window numbers no longer represent ACT's position: the natural channel is closed, and the core theory does not depend on it.
